Just in case anyone was coming, we’ve canceled this month’s board meeting. We’ll see everyone at Wallace Park on Sunday!

Look for April’s newsletter, should be out in a day or two.

Board meeting in Centerville on tuesday, Ap 26th at 7 pm. Ride at 5. Contact us for details.

Sunday May 1st will be an important date. We will have a members ride starting at Wallace Park and a members meeting following the ride. This will be a no drop ride, so bring the whole family. This is also the day we’re asking all current members to renew! We are currently upgrading the registration process, but should be ready in a few days.

Keep Riding! Chain Gang

The Board will meet the last Tuesday of every month.

The next meeting is scheduled for January 25th, at 7 pm. The host of the meeting will rotate to each member of the Board. The host will pick a place to hold the meeting as well as organize a ride of some sort before or after the meeting, cause after all, we are a bike club. This month’s host, Rob White, has decided the ride will be indoors, at Body Maxx, on their spin bikes (or your own trainer). All members are welcome, and we should start around 5:30. Body Maxx has graciously offered to let our members try this ride for free, after signing a waiver. So, no excuse not to Grab Their Bike and Ride, or if you’d rather ride your own bike on a trainer or rollers, bring ‘em.

We are looking for members that may be business owners. If you feel you would like to offer a discount or special to our club members, or know of another biz owner who would, please contact us through the site. Also, if you own or have a connection with a biz owner that could make any of the products that we could brand and offer to members, let us know.

In the next month, look for an official MiCo Velo Newsletter via email and on the site. Hopefully, this will keep everyone up to date. Any pics taken from rides can be sent to scottdreiling@att.net and I’ll try and get them into the newsletter. Any ideas, or if you’d like to help, let us know.

The Board also discussed issues that it would like to see move forward in 2011. These include, but aren’t limited to:

More bike-friendly communities (Bike lanes, trails, signs, other ideas welcome!)

Bike Safety courses (through schools?)

Bike Bus

Involvement in existing events like the Bike Rodeo, Cider Mill Century ride, Midwest Meltdown Triathlon, Bull Creek Bike Bash and any other.

We’ve also discussed trying to host an event of our own. All of these initiatives will need the support and participation of our members to be successful. We’d like to have members take a lead and form groups that can move each initiative forward. So, if you have any ideas or would like to help with any of these issues, please come to the next Board meeting or contact us.

If you remember, when we started MiCo Velo we offered a free membership to all until 2011. The Board is trying to determine all costs of the club before trying to structure membership dues. However, at some point, probably early spring, we will be asking all current members to renew their membership. This will include a small cost to each member. Hopefully, everyone will understand that to do the things we want, it will include costs for the club. Be assured that dues will be as small as possible as we will be a non-profit. We are also looking into what we can offer you as a member. Examples would be an official membership card, discounts at local businesses, maybe a shirt, socks, stickers, water bottle or other MiCo Velo stuff. So for now, enjoy the extra free months.
