We wanted to let all of you know about a couple of upcoming events, news and dates to remember.

First, check the calendar as we’ll be posting dates for group rides. We are looking for someone to organize the Hump Day ride or any others, please let us know. Tomorrow we will meet in the Paola High School parking lot at 6 if the weather is good. We will be riding through Sommerset on 287th street and back. Should be about 20 miles.

This Sunday, Sept 5th, we will host a mountain bike trail ride. Show up anytime between 10 am and 3 pm to come ride the trails at Scott and Christy Dreiling’s land. If you’re new to mountain biking, this would be a great time to get started. Check back on the site in case it rains and trails are wet.

Our very 1st MiCo Velo Members meeting will be posted soon. We’re looking at good dates, but it looks like Friday, Sept 10th at El Tapatio sometime around 6:30. This will be a good meeting to go to as we’ll be running down a ‘list’ of issues we’ll want to tackle in the next year. If you’re wanting to get involved, please come and volunteer. Meetings will probably be quarterly, so it may be a while before we have another one.

Last, look for the new ‘Community’ page to launch soon on the site. It will be a message board where members can post ideas, ride schedules, vent about traffic, or anything else on your mind. It’s a great way to stay up to date and in touch with other members.

That’s all, keep riding.

Lots of smiling faces as members regroup during the ride.

Wow, what a turnout for the first ever MiCo Velo group ride. Looks like we’re on our way to a successful club. Thanks to everyone that came out and rode.  We had a nice paced 10 mile ride, and then a small group did an extra 18 hard miles. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and judging the smiling faces I think you did. We’ll also try and get some pics and video from Rock and Roll up soon.

Check the calendar often for more rides, and we’ll be posting a date for our first official club meeting.

There will be leaders for each group that will set a comfortable pace and will make sure nobody gets left behind. Kids and families are welcome. Helmets required.
